Recommendation: Letter to Jane

I've been mesmerized by the content of Letter to Jane, a multimedia publication operating out of Portland, Oregan. The project is headed by Timothy Paul Moore who contributes most of the content together with an array of interesting artists.

01

The first issue covers interviews with bands and artists the likes of Passion Pit, Metronomy, Yoko Ono, The Morning Benders, Au Revoir Simone; a photo story by Mr. Moore and Hedi Slimane called American Youth (Hedi's latest shoot with Georgia May Jagger here), a very interesting article covering a discovery of a box of unknown slides and so much more. enough to make any chilled night at home an entertaining one.

02

03

The publication is available for download in .pdf format here (small donations are encouraged), also available for online viewing, for sale on the itunes store and a printed version (which i'm super amped to get my hands on).

enjoy!

Ears and eyes: Interpol - Lights

Interpol is back with a new video for their latest single Lights, directed by Charlie White.

the band has made the video available for download via their site in full HD glory. (it can be downloaded here - 300mb).

here's what the band had to say about their new video that's going viral:

Before this video is available anywhere else, we’re posting it here as an HD download, free for you. We’re amazed by it, and think you’ll enjoy seeing it as the director intended it to be seen — in high quality. It takes a some time to download, but trust us, it is worth it.

the band's fourth self-titled studio album is set to be released September 2010. video available after the stills.

Eyes: "Pills" Behind the Scenes

Two weeks ago i had the privilege of gracing space with Adriaan Louw and Luca Vincenzo on the set for new The Pretty Blue Guns music video "Pills" off their Cutting Heads album.

After invading my house with wardrobe babes, camera equipment, extras and cases of Black Label, they proceeded to execute one of the most enjoyable music video shoots i've ever had the pleasure of being on. Some happy snaps were taken by Thomas Pepler and can be viewed here.

The launch of the video is to take place next week, 26th of June at Zula Bar, Long Street, Cape Town. i for one can't wait to see what mr. louw and vincenzo cook up on the editing suite.

If you can't wait that long to see the PBG on stage and firing up the crowd, come along to Assembly tomorrow evening for Pirates and Maidens Dress-Up Party. They'll be playing along side Van Coke Kartel, Them Tornados and DJ vibes by Mr. Jaco Haasbroek and Disco Rodeo

Ears and eyes: Pretty Blue Guns - Your Warning

after some epic technical trouble (i assume), Adriaan uploaded the 'experimental video' to the
Pretty Blue Guns's Your Warning.

it's a slower tune and ties in nicely with the visuals which has an old school, polaroid, cross processed feel to it. it's like you're seeing a photo album in motion.

directed and shot by Adriaan Louw with additional footage from Tom Pepler

enjoy the weekend!

Ears: the healing arts representing from the lane

i spent my saterday mornings in london waking up on a couch, the sight of massive blue cranes watching over me and very mellow beats humming in the background. two of the four parts of making a day great i'm sharing right here... all you need now is the good company and hotwings.

the occupants of this batcave,
Warren Ali and Tarryn Blackwood, have recently kicked off The Healing Arts Collective and is definitely a space to watch for interesting tidbits on the conduits, sounds and visuals of London. the site is brand spanking new so expect some movement over the next couple of weeks.

but in the meantime, clear a few minutes in the day, blaze a fat one, press play on this and stare at that crane.
it does wonders.
